The energy of arcana 3 represents a strong feminine principle, material abundance, comfort and a kind of protection. When this energy shows up in a woman, she can be seen as a true embodiment of the Great Mother: an ideal homemaker, wife and mother. This energy also symbolizes care for others, help for the weakest and the protection of higher forces. The Arcana has almost the same meaning for men and for women, except for the first point.

- The feminine principle (for women) The woman who carries arcana 3 is a true keeper of the home. She is an excellent homemaker, a faithful wife and a responsible mother. The people around her try to follow her example and imitate her in everything. She is beautiful and feminine, sincerely loves her husband and gives him all the support he needs. For the Empress, daily life and household chores are a beloved activity, not a heavy duty.
- The feminine principle (for men) The man who carries arcana 3 understands all women deeply and has a deep spiritual connection with all the women in his family: grandmother, mother, sister. Once married, he becomes an excellent husband, very much a homebody, and always helps his wife with the housework, loving order and cleanliness. He is ready to take on responsibility and provide for the family.
- Abundance and fertility This person has achieved a lot, building up rich life experience and material goods. Everything the Empress touches begins to grow and prosper. She knows how to manage money, what to buy first, and so she improves the standard of living. She has good taste and tact, passing on a love of beauty to anyone who wants it.
- Protection Often, the bearer of arcana 3 becomes a mentor or, more precisely, a protector. They may devote themselves to education and teaching, or give material support to those who need it, with no personal gain. It’s important to note that the Universe doesn’t stay indifferent either and protects the Empress in many of her ventures.
- Luxury and comfort Another important aspect of this energy is the love of luxury and comfort. This person wants to have only the best and the most expensive. Their home is always “a full cup” and looks like a palace. They love giving and receiving gifts, trying to make life interesting and full of happy events.
- Power and stability A person with this energy is used to settling important matters and may gain power at some point in life. But they aren’t ambitious, and power isn’t an end in itself for them, as it is for the Emperor. Rather, the Empress likes the stability and security that power can offer for the future, along with the luxury and comfort that come with it.

- Rejecting the feminine principle (for women) This woman doesn’t want to grow up and doesn’t want to take on responsibility. She doesn’t want to develop, learn or advance in her career. She fights constantly with her sisters, mother and grandmother. In youth, she may openly scorn family values, consciously refusing to have children or marry. In adulthood, she has unrealistic expectations of a partner and drifts in an endless passive search. In the end, she adopts a cat and resigns herself to being an old maid.
- Immaturity (for men) In the negative, this is a very immature or “submissive” man. He may live his whole life at the expense of his wife or mother. He has no wish to develop, always hopes things will sort themselves out and goes with the flow. He may have no family life at all, and if he does, it becomes a burden to him. This can make him aggressive, blaming women for all his misfortunes.
- Impatience Extreme impatience and a lack of punctuality are the most common negative traits of the Empress, though not the most serious. Her majesty may ignore time or, on the contrary, be especially demanding of everyone else. At the slightest mishap compared with her expectations, a fight will break out.
- Pride and arrogance Two more common flaws of this energy. Once she has reached a certain comfort and social standing, the Empress puts herself above others and becomes unreachable for ordinary people. In this state, she may ignore old friends, relatives and colleagues. She boasts a lot, flaunting her position and her money.
- Abuse of power In the absence of more ambitious people, like the Emperor, the Empress can gain all the power in her hands. Impunity can go to her head and lead her to cross every line. She usually becomes mercenary, aggressive and unprincipled. As a result, the woman loses what makes her who she is and becomes extremely unhappy.

What do the numbers mean?
Each number is one of the 22 energies, with the names of the Marseille Tarot: 8 is Justice, 11 is Strength. Each energy has a positive and a negative side and changes shade depending on the zone it’s in.
What is the Karmic Tail?
They’re the three energies at the bottom of the octagram: they tell a task that comes from before this life. There are 26 possible combinations, each with a name and a story.
